Always wanted to be a part of a stimulating and exciting PR environment?
COME JOIN US
We’re looking for a motivated individual to join Saunders & Co PR as our Beauty Junior who has stacks of enthusiasm!
Experience is preferred , if you’ve slogged away at Uni we’ll be even more impressed! This is a paid and unique position across all of our Beauty Brands (which include Mecca Cosmetica, SK-II, Pantene, Weleda, Grown, Thalgo, Herbal Essences…).
Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2010 saw beauty trends of fresh faces, highlights of nude colours with minimal eye-makeup and a focus on glowing, youthful skin.
Coincidently, our dear friends at Mecca Cosmetica have been celebrating Foundation Month, which is highlighting the importance of finding the right foundation according to your lifestyle, age and skine tone. They have even grouped the foundations into three main sections: full coverage with a flawless finish, sheer and natural, and youthful and radiant.
My favourites (all available at Mecca Cosmetica):
Full coverage: Ellis Faas Skin Veil ($90)
Sheer and Natural: By Terry Eclat de Rose Sheer Tinted Moisturizer ($129)
Youthful and Radiant: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation ($99)
The wonderful makeup artists at Mecca created the beauty looks for Arnsdorf and Bassike SS10/11 shows at RAFW and the “less is more” trend was apparent with the models’ skin glowing in shades from Nars, Ellis Faas and By Terry.
For those who are slightly daring, try growing your eyebrows out to achieve the latest beauty trend – thick eyebrows – to avoid looking washed out from all of these nude shades!
I’m in the process of doing this, and I can tell you it’s probably the easiest beauty trend I’ve ever tried!
My obsession with thick eyebrows started a couple of years ago with actress Jennifer Connelly and was confirmed this RAFW with Melbourne model and my new girl crush - Bambi Northwood-Blyth (Priscilla’s Model Management).
Every woman wants no-fuss beauty, and this truly means no (well, very little) fuss!
Now we don’t want Frida-style mono-brows ladies, so keep your thick brows in shape by grooming them with Rubis Swiss Cross Red Tweezers available @ Mecca Cosmetica.
And if you’re having trouble keep them from flying off in a hundred differnet directions, try NEW Brow Doctor by Enormous Lash, (available @ Mecca Cosmetica) which is a clear gel that sets unruley eyebrows!
All these design facets were beautifully handcrafted into Michael Lo Sordo’s SS 1011 collection.
After incredible reviews Michael Lo Sordo pieces have become an absolute must have with sexy draped inky dresses, great blazer boyfriend jackets and the beautiful pleated maxi skirts paired back with sheer tanks.
The colour palette was also a standout on its own…as the soft nudes and stark whites contrasted magnificently with the inky blue and pink colours in the prints.
Sponsored by Aveda and Essie nails the models had soft swept back low buns and soft subtle make up – which was complimented beautifully with the smart and sophisticated styling of Marina Afonina for Michael’s show.
What else could be said except I can’t wait to paint the town red (or should I say nude) with one of his gorgeous mini dresses and maybe a pair of those Camilla Skovgarrd heels!
Lui Hon confirmed his place as one to watch in Australian fashion last Thursday afternoon at his debut show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
Sponsored by our very own Jurlique, as well as Cloud 9 and Jean Brown, guests in the front row received a Jurlique body lotion and hand cream from the brand new Jasmine collection, as well as a cloud 9 gift voucher, while others received a Jurlique Jasmine hand cream.
After months of hard work Lui Hon provided a divine take on proportions, with the material often looking like it had simply been draped over the body, as if each piece had been made for that specific model.
The bronzed gold sequin pieces of Lui’s collection added a subtle touch to the soft nudes, cream, dove greys and of course Lui’s beloved black pieces.
Models wore shoes by Camila Skovsgaard and were styled by Vanissa Antonious.
Here are a few of our favourite shots from backstage and front of house for Lui Hon SS10/11.
Model Zippora takes a refreshing break with Jurlique Rosewater Balancing mist!
They have been pulled directly from Obus’ Winter ‘10 range!
Designer Kylie has drawn the main eight colours from the range’s colour pallet; from the deepest olive (Naples) to a warm rose (Verona) with a hint of fresh mint in between (Grenada) the range is sure to be the perfect partner to any winter outfit! Following the theme of Kylie’s designs, the varnishes are named after European cities, which are the places in which she draws her inspiration.
(Obus Winter ‘10 below)
It’s genious really isnt it?!
How often do you find yourself searching to find the right nailpolish to match your winter threads? Black gets a little bit old – and you can’t exactly continue to sport your favourite summer fluoros now can you?
So pick up a scarf, a dress, some woolly stockings or a beautiful knit jumper from Obus this winter and take your pick from one (or maybe all) of the eight nail enamel colours and complete your winter look with ease!
Alongside our other brand ambassadors including Hugh Sheridon for Flinders Lane, Theresa Palmer for Jurlique and Cate Blanchett for SK II, Leighton Meester is Herbal Essence’s new global ambassador…and as you can imagine, we’re thrilled about it!
Leighton Meester says, “I’m so happy to be working with Herbal Essences. It’s important for me that I partnered with a brand that I do use every day and I trust and I love. My hairstylist, Charles Baker Strahan introduced me to the range and the products are truly incredible and make a real difference to the condition of my hair. I use it personally and I want to spread the word about it. Herbal Essences takes great care of my hair.”
Leighton epitomizes the Herbal Essences Girl – a modern free spirit: daring, witty and who loves to explore her style opportunities and make the most of her look every day. And boy – does she look good!
Find your lipstick on coffee cups, friends cheeks, boyfriends lips and your champagne glass more than on your own lips?
Avoid only having your lipstick on for the first half an hour of your day or night by first applying Stila’s new multi-purpose primer. Enjoy longer wear and an enhanced colour and find yourself pouting your way through the day!
Available at all Mecca Cosmetica stores from May 24th 2010
Late last week the daughters of pleasure – Hapsari, joined the showroom of Saunders & Co and as you can imagine, caused quite a stir!
From edible body shimmer, to adhesive nipple jewels, massage oils galore, Kissaholic Lip Gloss and the Iconic Rabbit – Hapsari really has thought of all of your needs!
The brands which are available through Hapsari have a huge celebrity following including Scarlett Johansson, Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox who are fans of Booty Parlour, and Angelina Jolie who loves her Jimmyjane collection.
Whether its plumping your lips, moisturising yourself with secret firming cream, or (as they like to call them) Bedroom Accessories – you’re sure to find something at Hapsari that will … ummm …tickle your fancy!
Kylie is obsessed with all things fashion and accesories, and this week her pick is Katzis eclectic everyday jewellry range.
“The great thing about Katzi jewellry is the ability to layer, stack or wear it by itself with intricate designs and detailing such as the use of the word “shanti” and embossed love hearts. My favourite pieces are the bow ring and the scissors necklace, which is a fine silver chain with a cute scissor charm featured off-centre on the necklace.”
It is no secret to those in the Saunders & Co. office that I am obsessive when it comes to all things nails; polish, size, shape, treatment, moisturiser, colour and even jewels.
My latest flavour of the month is mint. Just a few weeks ago, our fabulous friends at Essie brought us Mint Candy Apple. Similar to that of the green featured in the Chanel AW09/10 show (below),
Mint Candy Apple has a hint of turquoise allowing it to suit all skin tones. Remember to keep your nails short and round when featuring a colour like this, and finish the job off with a burst of freshness with Jurlique’s Citrus Hand Cream. Deeeelish!
Tip: To make your polish last longer, start and finish your job with Essie’s 3-Way Glaze (above) which works as a base, strengthener and top coat.
It was like Christmas last week when the sparkles and glamour of Ruth Tarvydas’ collection entered our showroom..
Tarvydas is the glamorous, edgy and sexy Australian label known for creating exceptional designs that steer from fashion trends and the ordinary. Pioneered by Perth icon Ruth Tarvydas, Tarvydas has been in the headlines since 2004, when Rebecca Twigley turned heads at the Brownlow’s in Ruth’s infamous ‘red dress.’
In May 2009, Tarvydas was asked to design the National Costume for Miss Universe Australia at the international pageant in the Bahamas. In November, Tarvydas launched it’s SS10 collection in Harrods London (Evening Wear and Way In)Tarvydas is showing at Pure London in February 2010.
Tarvydas attracts a broad celebrity following, which includes Rihanna, Alicia Keys, The Pussycat Dolls, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Emma Watson, Amy Winehouse, Rachel Hunter, Girls Aloud and Ke$ha to name a few.
Flinders Lane ambassador Hugh Sheridan made his runway debut at MYER’s Melbourne W10 Collections alongside MYER stars Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith. Following the trend of mixing textures in men’s fashion this season, Hugh wore a Flinders Lane checked shirt, skinny black tie and black leather jacket – a recurring staple for guys this season on the catwalk.
Since you were last updated with the happenings of the Saunders team and our wonderful clients, a lot has been happening…
Australia’s very own “Posh and Becks”, Lara Bingle and Michael Clarke (finally) went their separate ways, Heidi Montague had one very expensive visit to her plastic surgeon, Lady GaGa danced her way out of the closet, and as the fashion industry lost dear friend Alexander McQueen, we lost a member of our Saunders family to the city of New York (Ava Matthews).
While all of this has been going on we have been very, very busy finding some new friends, and boy do we have a glamorous and exciting selection for you!
Taking over Ava’s duties as leading lady of Mecca Cosmetica and Essie, is our new gal, Julia. Hardworking and funny, we feel like she’s been with us for years! Oh and did I mention her brother (James Tobin) is one of the Cleo Bachelors of the Year? Deeelish. Welcome aboard Julia!
We have also welcomed some amazing new clients.
Introducing… Hapsari, Ruth Tarvydas, Subtle Energies, EziBuy, Saison.
Lots more about these brands in the next few days – stay tuned!
