Holla at Hannah 6 – Flaunt the Floral and Pull Off Print

We’re just finishing up our EziBuy Spring showings here at the office and all I’ve been seeing, hearing, and thinking about is the latest, greatest trend – The Statement Pant. Animal print chinos, slouch-print silk pants, floral and pop colour denim…the list is endless. I’ve got to have more! I’ve been lusting over so many great items from the EziBuy SS12/13 showings – but their new pants take the cake.

With everyone from Beyonce and Rihanna, to the fashion girls and boys at every mag in Sydney rocking this one – the printed pant is almost taking over the world! Or at least Instagram…

I’m rocking some grey snakeskin print chinos today with a plum silk shirt and some brogues for a more casual office style statement pant look but you can definitely work the floral denim with a tee and blazer and great heels for a night out The thing you’ve got to remember is that rest of your outfit can be quite basic as you want the printed bottoms to be a feautre you work around.
Don’t be scared – they really aren’t as outlandish as you think. You can TOTALLY pull them off.

These are my faves…

And these are only a few from EziBuy. Check out www.maxshop.com and www.elk.net.au for other fun options too!

So that’s my ‘Holla’, by the next time we meet I want to see you rocking (or at least attempting) a print pant when I return in a fortnight! Until then… xxx

An Enchanted Event From MAXshop.com – Spring 2012

MAXshop.com hosted a Spring/ Summer launch fiesta at the Gracelands Bar at The Winery in Surry Hills this week. This perfectly eclectic backdrop was the ideal setting to show off the new clothes to the media, as well as providing a well needed mid- week escape!

Collection wise, the next 3 offerings of clothes and accessories from MAXshop.com are all completely different – so here is a one sentence download on each of them. Firstly, In the Garden, is an exciting assortment of bold colours and bright florals, displayed in front of a floor to ceiling live plant wall! I mean, it doesn’t get much more perfect than that!
The second collection Hacienda has a Spanish – Latin vibe, full of red, black and rose motifs – perfect for bringing out your inner senorita. Finally, To Catch a Thief is a range of clothes inspired by the classic 50’s movie of the same name. Channel a modern day Grace Kelly in this demure selection of pastels and lace for a vintage feel.

This fresh direction for the brand is a result of hiring a new Creative Director, Tracy Heaven, who acted as a main point of contact during the media showings throughout the day.  Later in the evening fashion bloggers including Margaret Zhang, from Shine By Three, Jessie Bush from We The People and Darren Luk from Boy Moments, were invited into the colourful fiesta where chatter of the collection’s silk shirts ruled.  The pastel bomber jackets and the floral suits were also a big hit amongst the crowd for the evening.

Guests were greeted with a Giggly Rose cocktail, perfectly suited to the theme – seriously sooo delicious we may have had more than one!  To compliment the drinks were an array of canapés including king prawn rice paper rolls, salmon tartare cornettos, and the tastiest asparagus and green pea truffled risotto ever!

All in all, the event was a huge success, and with so many great pieces in this collection, we can’t wait for the weather to heat up!

I’m back! And I’ve been inspired…
Gary Saunders has recently returned from a trip overseas where he seems to have picked up some gems, and came into the office sporting THESE…..

Obviously these fab shoes did not go unnoticed. With silver studs at the ankle and orange laces (because, well, why not!) – who wouldn’t want a pair?

Creating a relaxed luxe look, Gary paired the shoes with slouchy Alexander Wang pants a matching cornflower blue tee, and a black v-neck cardi.
His approach to ‘a pop colour’ is exactly what you’re after when wanting to implement such a trend into your everyday wardrobe.

From Warhol, to Gucci, the ‘POP of colour’ trend took the world in a rainbow paddle pop storm. Whether it’s a great silk shirt, a comfy cotton jean or blue shoes. It’s been here for a solid 12 months and this trend seems to be here for the long haul.
My pick’s of the week are from www.MAxshop.com’s latest collection – Hacienda – online now.

Holla at Hannah 2

So, this week it’s our fashion Hannah’s turn (she’s kinda a big deal) to give you all a fashion tip that you just have to obey…

We all know it’s been freeeezing here in Sydney (especially in our office) over the past few weeks! Between, rain, wind, snow and sleet, well maybe we’re exaggerating a little but it has been cold.

The clothing item that has got me through has been my  never failing trench coat. I can’t go a week without styling it in and don’t really know what I wore before I owned it!

From Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, trenches have made history. Celebs like Gwenyth, Alexa, Rihanna (they need no surname) rock them weekly so we know we’re  right on the money.

If you have to ask me what a trench goes with, don’t. The answer is anything, even your yoga gear will look better under a trench unless you are wearing socks and sandals. We really shouldn’t have to tell you that German tourist chic is not actually chic.

I rock mine in autumn,  I rock mine in spring, I even rock mine rock mine in Palm Springs (well, not really btu we’re having a Dr Seuss moment and it was way more fun than our other ideas!)

Now for the best part of this tip, my trench is from EziBuy and was under $100. You really have no excuse and they’ll even deliver it to your office/home/anywhere.

Go forth, purchase and fall in love!

Holla at Hannah

Do you guys watch Girls? If you don’t you should. It’s so funny and relevant and just the right kind of awkward and the main character is called Hannah.

We have two Hannah’s at Saunders. Hannah R is our stellar fashion assistant and Hannah P (me) is the best beauty assistant Saunders ever had. But back to Girls. In one episode Hannah revealed that in high school she had an advice column called ‘Holla at Hannah’ so we have decided to create our very own on the Saunders blog!

We’re going to take it in turns, Hannah R will do fashion tips and I’ll do beauty and you will learn so much from us you will wonder how you ever lived without us. And if you ever have a question you can just email us at info@sandcopr.com.au and we’ll answer it right here on the blog. How exciting is that?

So I’ll kick it off with a beauty tip inspired by the lovely Kate Fraser who heads up all our Fashion brands here at Saunders. On Monday evening Kate and I were getting ready for the Nars Mecca event. We were sharing a mirror and doing our makeup when I noticed Kate pumping her mascara wand in the tube. GUYS! This is such a big no-no. What you are really doing is pushing air into your mascara and causing it to dry out faster. It’s much better to twirl your mascara wand, this way you’re getting an even coverage of mascara on the wand and a longer life for your mascara.

So now you, and Kate, know: To keep the lash curl, you gotta learn to twirl.

MBFWA: Day Five Wrap Up

The perfect way to wrap up the week that was MBFWA? Christopher Esber and Suboo.

For Suboo it was the perfect debut. A fun collection of neons, cut outs, geometric patterns and light fabrics positivley screamed summer. Max Factor created a fashion forward, beachy inspired look. A glossy chartruese eye and gloss on the cheek kept the makeup young, light and fun. A perfect reflection of the collection. For the hair Morrocan oil created a sleek low pony that was woven at the sides. An interesting twist on a classic pony.

Christopher Esber was certainly a stand out show for many. A well edited collection indeed from the 23 year old. Esber foccused on either a high neck, plunging neck  or plunging back. There was a bit of everything, leather, sheer fabrics and tailoring with a palette of blue, white, black and grey.

The nails were kept neutral with Essie’s iconic Ballet Slippers. Renya Xydis really smashed it with the hair. Keeping it very sleek at the front with the help of the Cloud Nine iron while the back was then scultped into a basket weave shape and rolled into a basket weave bun. The makeup done by Napoleon Perdis was inspired by a beautiful assasin, an athletic, just-worked-out look. The key products were tinted moisturiser and an illuminating palette. The eye was a natural smokey eye with orange accents. The overall look was natural with a tiny bit of danger.

MBFWA: Day Three Wrap Up

The Saunders office was almost empty on Wednesday as we were all very busy bee’s at MBFWA.

Oroton was first up with hair by Renya Xydis for Cloud Nine and nails by Miss Frou Frou. The makeup was provided by Nars for Mecca Cosmetica.  For the makeup Nars artist Linda Jeffreys created a soft bronzed look.

The hair by Renya Xydis using Cloud Nine was a modern take on the classic corn row. The hair was ironed using a Cloud Nine iron and then twisted back into a low pony tail. The pony tail was then curled with a Cloud Nine wand to add a soft curl and a bit of volume. The nails by Miss Frou Frou were a nude base  and then half the nail was painted with either Peacock, Tequila Sunset or Zest.

The collection itself was a beautiful mix of relaxed tailoring, silk seperates and sequined shifts.

And then there was Watson x Watson. Sisters Liberty and Somer Watson presented a highly wearable collection of weekend wear, sportswear and soft tailoring. Furs and leather pants are always a favourite, but the jacket’s were also stand out!

The hair and makeup were kept simple but with a little bit of fun injected. The hair by Redken was youthful and inspired by a girl that had been out at a rave all night and had the mroning mist settling on her hair. The rave theme carried through to the makeup with some of the girls having face art around the eyes. The makeup was done by Max Factor and included an immaculate skin base with hints of gold highlights.

MBFWA: Day 1 Wrap Up

Day one of MBFWA down and four to go!

Today kicked off with Romance Was Born who didn’t disappoint with Marvel inspired makeup, flaming red wigs and an array of different manicures. The collection itself featured comic style prints, polka dots and stripes. A little bit Roy Lichtenstein but a WHOLE lot Romance Was Born.

The other stand out for the day had to be Kirrily Johnston. The hair was done by our very own Renya Xydis for Cloud Nine with nails by Miss Frou Frou. It was all a bit of a Saunders & Co affair backstage with our very own Gary Saunders right in the mix.

The  hair was styled two ways – tiny flat dreadlocks or pulled back into farmer girl style buns to perfectly complement the softly contoured faces and showcase the amazing jewellery. The collection was inspired by Romanian Gypsy’s and was light with soft florals, and earthy, simple tones.

The other stand out of the day for us had to be Dylan Cooper with models that had fun James Dean inspired up do’s. The makeup was a celebration of 80′s glamour; a smokey eye with a bright pink lip inspired by none other than David Bowie. The collection itself was a fun mix of prints, textures and colours.

Make sure you keep up to date with all the action over the next week right here with our daily blog wrap up.  See you tomorrow!
