Mums are pretty special women. They are our mentors, Councillors and life coaches. Over the years a mum will play a myriad of roles including chauffeur, chef, cleaner, stylist, nurse, pharmacist, cheerleader, relationship guru, referee, teacher, seamstress and photographer. She’s the trusty sidekick to every one of your superhero life moments and on May 12 it’s time to turn the tables and make mum the centre of attention.

Show Mum the luxury of leather this year with a range of hand-crafted pieces from Elk, made from the softest sheep or buffalo leather. Fashionista Mum’s are always searching for a solution to traveling with their accessories and the Elk Jewellery Roll (RRP $99.00) will solve the problem in style. Take Mum’s travel essentials even further with a Hanover Travel Wallet (RRP $125.00) complete with passport, credit card and document sections.

This Mother’s Day, spoil your mum and treat her to the gift of beautifully hydrated and nourished skin with Thalgo’s range of specialist Anti-Ageing Skincare products. Whether your mum requires daily essentials or has specific skincare needs, each set is a celebration of self-pampering.

All of the Thalgo Mother’s Day gift sets are beautifully packaged in an elegant Thalgo Tote, making them an ideal gift for loved ones or even great value when buying for yourself. Choose from three options: Collagen for those aged 25 and over, Hyaluronic for those aged 35 and over and Silicium for those aged 40 years and over.

Continue pampering Mum and give her hair the care it craves with P&G’s new Pantene Beautiful Lengths Strengthening Collection. Split ends often lead to breakage which makes hair difficult to grow long and strong. The Pro-V Keratin formula in the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner helps weak, brittle, damage-prone hair gain strength against breakages.

What’s more is the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Strengthening Collection is in support of the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program launched in Australia in September 2012 in partnership with the charity Look Good…Feel Better.

For an absolute treat for mum this Mother’s Day try the new Acca Kappa Virginia Rose Eau de Cologne. With rose holding court as the flower Queen of the garden, the scent slowly unfolds with lily of the valley and geranium, and gently joins with the freshness of citrus, lemon and grapefruit. It then evolves and fades into the sensual notes of amber and precious rose woods (RRP $89.95, 100ml).

Mother’s Day is also the perfect time to indulge mum’s love of entertaining. The Savour Entertaining Range is crafted from beautiful sleek white porcelain with trendy topography and includes a Hummus Bowl, Antipasto Plate, Olive Bowl, Salt and Pepper Cellars and Oil Dipping Dishes all exclusive for EziBuy (RRP from $19.95- $59.95).

Whatever you decide to gift Mum this year make sure it comes with a great big thank you, we’d be lost without our Mums.

There’s no denying rose gold has had an influence over the recent fashion and beauty world, taking a modern more feminine spin on its classic older sister, yellow gold. But here’s the question, is the shade going to sustain its must-have status over the coming seasons? I’d put money on yes as the answer.

I, for one, love it because when I wear it there’s no thought in the back of my head comparing me to my Nonna, dressed in all her chunky gold jewellery glory. It’s feminine, chic, very wearable and complimentary to most skin tones. A great way to work it into your everyday beauty routine is with a simple make-up look – a favourite of mine is subtle wash of rosy eye shadow, sweep of blush, touch of gloss and matching mani to exude elegance with a polished and pretty finish. Here are a few current products boasting that oh-so-modish pink hue to carry your glow into the cooler months:

From Top Middle Clockwise – Nesti Dante Chic Animalier, SKII LXP, theBalm Overshadow in You Buy, I’ll Fly, Max Factor Glossfinity Nail Polish in Midnight Bronze, Covergirl Wetslicks Lipgloss in Candy Bon Bon, theBalm Shady Lady in Mischeivious Marissa.

Yellow gold will forever remain classic and there’s no doubting its ability make a statement. Miss Frou Frou’s Gold Digger for example is definitely a must-have for bright and bold tips. Here are a few other all important products to keep you glowing and warm throughout the harsh winter.

From Top Middle Clockwise – theBalm Hot Ticket Nailpolish in You’re So Hot and Gold, Max Factor Mini Nails in Ivory, Smiths Strawberry Lip Balm, Linari Eleganza Luminosa EDP, Kerstin Florian Rejuvenating Firming Eye Gel, evo Fabuloso Caramel, Miss Frou Frou Polish in Gold Digger.

I’ll finish with there being no right or wrong choice when it comes to either option. A timeless tip is to always work with a style and colour that suits your complexion. For a pop of colour mixing and matching is certainly acceptable too.

The inspiration for the hair look at
the Vivienne Westwood AW13 show in Paris came from two key sources, the medieval
hairstyles and the fabrics brought home from the Crusades.

“Vivienne had a reference of the long
braids of Medieval times and we built on this by incorporating silk georgette
fabrics from the collection but it didn’t seem like enough and then Vivienne had
the inspiration of also using the polythene of her garment bags in to the
braids and the look really came to Life” said Sam McKnight, Global Stylist
Ambassador for Pantene Pro-V.

Get the
look:

Start with freshly washed
and conditioned hair, using Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light shampoo and conditioner to
create the perfect base.

Use Pantene Pro-V Body
Builder Mousse and blow dry in to hair – this will help add texture and ‘bite’
to the braids

For the show, Sam created
either one middle plait or two side
plaits, either with a centre parting or with a central panel of hair that was
smoothed down towards the back of the head

Weave a piece of fabric
(or polythene) in to the braid

Finally, apply Pantene
Pro-V Intensive Damage Repair Oil to the ends of the hair to rehydrate

The hair look at the DSquared2 AW13 show at Milan Fashion Week was both masculine and feminine. Inspired by the glamorous nightclub scene of the 1940s, the hair perfectly complemented the sharp tailored suits and the embellished dresses seen on the catwalk. The collection was a wild concoction of gorgeous marabou collars, iridescent fabrics and embellished accessories reminiscent of the gangster era.

“We wanted to create a hairstyle that bridged together both the masculine and feminine theme showcased throughout the clothing collection. We whipped the hair into a gorgeous ponytail at a slick low side parting keeping it boyish at the back.” Says Sam McKnight, Global Ambassador, Pantene Pro-V.

Last weekend, the miserable rain soaked shamble that it was, saw me preparing for a bubble bath and coming to the shock that the only candle light I had to relax in were the mosquito candles my family uses for camping. I’m sure you can imagine how it felt to emerge from the bathroom, half an hour later, smelling of bug spray. It was then I decided to go on a search for a delicious smell that I could truly relax in.

Introducing Voluspa by Saison! This LA based brand is all the rage in the Hollywood Hills and for good reason! To say a whiff of these wicks will blow your mind is an understatement. A mere lift of the lid will practically transport you anywhere you could possibly want to be. Whilst the entire range is enviable, I had to choose a top three. Beware! Relaxation pending:

1. French Cade & Lavender, Japonica Collection

I have a confession to make. A man who smells divine, makes my knees weak. Hence, I could burn French Cade Lavender at my desk all day and in my home all night. If you’ve ever had a man lend you his coat because you’re cold, only to have his smell imprint on your dress, you know what I’m talking about. This scent oozes sex appeal without even trying. It’s time to pull anchor and sail away on this dream boat.

Sorry, Channing Tatum not included.

RRP: $34.95 (340g).

2. Voluspa: Citron Vert & Vanille, Maison D’or Collection

You’re about to discover a candle that was created for your taste buds. Citron Vert & Vanille smells like a moist lemon and almond friande. It is perfect for when you need warming up from the inside out. However, I wouldn’t recommend this scent if you’re on a diet as it just smells good enough to eat! I am struggling to put the lid back on this little treat!

RRP: $29.95 (312g)

3. Voluspa: Goji & Tarocco Orange, Japonica Collection

Welcome to tropical paradise! There is a good reason this is the favourite candle of celebs like Nicole Richie. You simply cannot feel sad when this baby is burning. The smell of Italian tarocco oranges will fill every room in your home, leaving you comatose with relaxation. The best thing about this member of the Japonica Collection is that the embossed jar it comes in both looks amazing and holds a candle with 100 hours of pure burning bliss! All you need to do is sit back and enjoy!

RRP: $45.00 (435g)

So, there is no longer an excuse to have a scent free home. I hope you all can learn from my bath time errors and finally treat yourselves to some scent-sational luxury!

In case you haven’t noticed Miss Cara D has been straight up killing it at the moment. A fixture on what seems like every recent runway show, Cara’s amazing cheekbones and THOSE eyebrows are smoking hot regardless but let’s take a little look at her best Fashion Week looks from London and New York in the past two weeks.

First up London

L-R TOPSHOP UNIQUE, ISSA LONDON, MULBERRY

The looks above are all fairly minimal. Top Shop Unique had Cara wearing bright blue eye shadow all over the eye with a flush of peach on the cheeks. Not the best look we had from Cara at LFW but maybe the most colourful!

At Issa London the makeup was stripped way back. A gray wash of eye shadow all over with no eyeliner or mascara and a tiny bit of highlighter on the inner tear duct. Paired with bare, semi-glossy lips this look was minimalistic but complemented the clothing perfectly.

My favourite of the London looks was definitely Mulberry! Two matte brown eye shadows and a soft brown liner created this stunning but subtle brown smoky eye. A soft coral lip and perfectly highlighted skin topped it off. The hair was tucked into the collars. It looks lovely on Cara but I’m not sure how well it would translate in the real world. In fact I’m almost certain people would constantly say to you “Hey your hairs all stuck in your shirt silly!”

Now on to New York!

L-R MICHAEL KORS, JEREMY SCOTT, OSCAR DE LA RENTA

These looks were a bit more exciting. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit devastated by the lack of amazing lip colours this season but these looks kind of made up for it.

Michael Kors went with a dramatic feline smoky eye with a white shadow in the inner tear duct to make the eyes pop even more. The lips were nude.

Jeremy Scott is obviously never going to be for the faint hearted. A neon green and black statement eye that is almost David Bowie-esque was a fun change among the smoky eyes and bare lips. The green liner was brought through the socket and then flicked up through the tail of the eyebrow. This was then joined with a black zig zag of eyeliner that came just under the eye. Add a fuchsia lip and you have maybe the brightest fashion week beauty look.

Oscar De La Renta was my kind of beauty. There were four looks in total and each one was gorgeous but Cara’s one was probably my favourite. Black crème liner created a subtle cat eye which was vamped up with a glossy deep red lip. Perfection! This was one of my favourite looks because it complemented the clothes so well. This makeup looks expensive. It looks thought put together selectively. Of course, Oscar De La Renta doesn’t just look expensive.

I had to include this one even though it’s not Cara because I am obsessed with it. This was another one of the looks at Oscar De La Renta, perfectly highlighted, clean looking skin with the most gorgeous matte pastel orange lip. I am now on the hunt for a matte pastel orange lipstick folks. Something I never thought I’d hear myself say.

So tell me, what has been your favourite AW 13 Fashion Week moment so far?

Sooo the Fall ’13 ready-to-wear shows have already moved from NYC to London in a whirlwind, and fahsionistas from all over the globe have braved the winter to check out the latest trends. Although there are a million outfits and collections to talk about, I am going to focus on the last week in New York, and in particular a single item of clothing – Jackets.

Those who know me, know how I feel about this single garment. I believe obsession would be an appropriate word. There is no question in my mind that jackets are my favourite item of clothing…For sure, definitely, YES. Although I already have so many, it is the first thing my eyes are drawn to in a store, and I rarely seem to be able to say no. Come to think of it, maybe that’s why summer is not my favourite season – too hot for jackets!

Knowing this, you can imagine my joy when amazing coat after blazer come waltzing down the runway. There are actually so many good ones it has been really difficult to choose – but here are my top 10 jackets of fashion week (in no particular order).

Michael Kors. THIS JACKET IS PIMP! Both in the sense that it is amazing and in the sense you could picture a 70’s pimp wearing it with a matching feathered hat and bejewelled cane. Love the length, love the fuzzy texture and obviously LOVE the camo. Contrary to what the print is designed for, you would not blend into the background in this bad boy.

Belstaff. I feel very passionately about this jacket to the point where I really, really need it in my life. I know it’s nothing new and nothing flashy, but that’s where the beauty lies – in its simple perfection. It would give any outfit a sophisticated edge while simultaneously being super practical.

Badgley Mischka. I swear I am a magpie – If it is bright, shiny and sparkly I am going to be drawn to it. This jacket is super stunning, like a luxe sequined futuristic armour. I think the diagonal lines add a point of interest creating a piece that is both classic and unique.

3.1 Phillip Lim. He makes the BEST JACKETS. Season after season the king of New York street style king of cool rolls out these super wearable, super cool jackets with a worn edge. These are the kind of pieces that only get better with age. Wear it every day for 3 months, scrunch it in a ball and jump on it and it will probably look more perfect than before. Granted I am a sucker for a good leather motorcycle jacket (which BTW were all over the place at NYFW), but this one was particularly great, with the dual colours really pushing it over the edge.

Michael Kors (again). This jacket screams Michael Kors, but maybe that is what is so excellent about it. The structured sleek aesthetic, THAT colour blue, the sporty black lines, Cara Delevingne – It is all perfection.

Altuzarra. WOW!!!! Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! I want this in a way I know I could never own it even if I sold my car and all my possessions. It is so rich, opulent and looks SO cozy. A perfect example of a modern fur jacket, and super on trend with the black and white, but done in an unexpected way.

Oscar De La Renta. Oh Oscar! I don’t know if this counts as a dress but I don’t care – this coat dress is stunning! The embroidery is exquisite, and on top of the velvet it is even better. It has such a warm wintery feel without being heavy. It’s just beautiful and classic and I really don’t need to say anything else about it

Proenza Schouler. I’ll admit it – this does look a bit like an over sized straight jacket, BUT is so modern, sleek and versatile- easily worn by both the power woman on Wall Street and the ‘it’ girl down on the Lower East Side. The boxy shoulders of this futuristic, minimalistic piece make it so current, while being a jacket that certainly would not go out of style any time soon. An investment piece if I’ve ever seen one!

Jason Wu. Loving this rocker girl look from Jason Wu. I am obsessed with the snakeskin and think it gives an awesome edge to a jacket style we have seen a lot recently. It is even better juxtaposed against the soft white pleated skirt – such a simple idea that just looks soo good!

Helmut Lang. The clothes from Helmut Lang are always super wearable, quintessential New York kind of stuff and this collection was no exception (ooo that rhymes!) Hounds-tooth was all over the runways this season and this wrap jacket is a perfect example. It is a print that I think is a bit more difficult to make look ‘cool’, but this does the job and then some – it has downtown girl written all over it. ALSO look how the yellow t-shirt sleeves have been folded over the jacket sleeves! What a simple and awesome looking styling trick that I’m sure everyone can do with items already in their wardrobe.

Now can the weather PLEASE get colder so I can start getting my jackets on!

See you in 2 weeks,

Sam xxx

Valentine’s Day!

Welcome back lovers! You’re in for a treat today. If you’ve followed our advice you’re glowing already and today is the perfect day for to show it. Read ahead and take note, these are the tips that will guarantee your Valentine’s Day is the most memorable one yet.

VOLUSPA SUEDE BLANC CANDLE:

You’ve wrapped your silky hair into a clip but before you step into the shower you need something to calm the nerves and get you in the mood. No, I’m not talking about a glass of bubbles, though that wouldn’t go astray either… I’m talking about a scent to awaken your senses and gets your blood flowing. Cue Voluspa Suede Blanc Candle! With hints of apricot, coconut and a touch of cologne, the buttery soft suede candle will have your Valentine’s Day off to the perfect start.

WELEDA ROSE BODY OIL:

There is nothing quite like a rose to make you feel loved on Valentine’s Day. But if you don’t get a bouquet of your favourite flowers, there is nothing that pampers and smoothes your skin like Weleda Wild Rose Oil. Apply the floral-scented oil to damp skin and allow it to revitalize your skin’s natural beauty, as well as calm the green eyed monster if you didn’t score some bouquet of love.

TIME BALM FACE PRIMER BASE VISAGE:

So we’ve prepped your skin, your hair is shining and you’re feeling relaxed. Now we need to prepare your face and there is no better product than Time Balm Face Primer Base Visage. This primer not only makes your skin look amazing but ensures it stays that way with health benefits galore due to the Vitamins A, C & E that are packed inside! Your make up will stay put and you end the night looking as flawless as when you started. So get going girls, there is no excuse for sloppy make up now that you have discovered this gem!

EVO LOVE TOUCH SHINE SPRAY:

It is just as important to prepare your hair as it is your face. Add some shine to your do with Evo Love Touch Shine Spray. It guarantees incredible surface shine and maximum protection for any style! Before leaving the house pop this first class performer into your handbag in case of rough weather and stubborn fly aways.

THE CLOUD NINE WIDE IRON:

The Cloud Nine Wide Iron is ideal for the most difficult hair, with the unique width of the iron letting you iron more hair, faster and at lower temperatures, allowing protection and increasing shine. Whether you decide to curl, straighten, smooth or make waves, by using the Cloud Nine Wide Iron you will leave the house looking like a goddess and your date will think you have just stepped out of the salon.

HERBAL ESSENCES SET ME UP HAIRSPRAY:

Set your style with Herbal Essences Set Me Up Hairspray perfect for securing your look, whilst leaving your hair smelling good enough to eat with its cactus and bamboo extracts. Promising to hold your hair even in a tornado, it will awaken your senses and is the perfect product for any kind of Valentine’s date you have planned.

MISS FROU FROU NAIL POLISH in “RED HOT”:

There is no other option than a deep, sexy red for your nails. Not only does this shade exude passion and confidence, it gives a nod to Hollywood glamour and is perfect no matter what your style. Leave enough time for your manicure to dry. Apply a basecoat and do not paint your nails whilst running out the door! Who knows there may be a special ring on one of them by the end of the night!

SIMPATICO NO.35 SOLID PERFUME:

Another product you must have in your handbag on any day is a solid perfume. Simpatico No 35 is the perfect size and scent for your date. What could be better than smelling of Magnolia petals, juniper, clove and cardamom? Give that man you’re with something to remember. Take Coco Chanel’s advice: “Where should a woman wear perfume?” a young woman once asked “Wherever one wants to be kissed”!

Remember that to receive love you must exude love, so start with yourselves ladies, invest in some luxury for the number one commodity, YOU! I hope these words of wisdom are helpful. It is very easy to get into a slump over this particular holiday so remember ladies, cherish yourselves and always make time for pampering. In the wise words of The Beatles “All you need is love, love, love is all you need”.

Stumped with what to wear for Valentine’s Day girls? Well, you’re in the right place! Whether you’re going for a sexy look for a night out with him, or the perfect casual outfit for dinner with the girls – we have got the situation sorted.

Let’s talk dinner with your husband/ boyfriend/girlfriend/ whatever you want to call them. Nothing is more classic and sexy than the little black dress (LBD). Done right it is an ideal combination of sultry and sophisticated, with a style out there perfect for everyone, at any age. Play with different lengths, textures and shapes to flatter your body type while simultaneously looking effortless. Whether you are dressing it up with jewellery, sky high heels and a hairdresser’s visit, or dressing it down with a pair of sandals – you will be looking chic regardless. Here are a few suggestions perfect for Thursday the 14th!

Dresses: Elk and Ezibuy

If you haven’t got plans, this is not an invitation to sit at home and mope. Grab some single girlfriends and celebrate singles awareness day with a bottle of vino (or 3). Granted if this is happening at home an old pair of trackies and singlet will definitely suffice, but out in public this may not cut it. Coloured or printed jeans are still bigger than ever this season, with GREAT ones available everywhere! Teemed with a classic plain T-shirt, blazer and some killer shoes – this is a stylish look that will get you noticed, while also being super comfortable.

Hello Lovers!

Noticed all the themed cards and chocolates that are popping up everywhere? Well Valentine’s Day is almost upon us and whether you dread the day or countdown to it, February 14 is the perfect excuse to give yourself a fabulous makeover. We’ve found some of the best products to pamper yourselves with that will leave you glowing with confidence this V Day!

If you’re rolling your eyes at us and thinking that Valentine’s Day is a consumer holiday, I say to you, it’s not! It is a day to show love, to remind the world what love is and it doesn’t matter who you show that love to. We are here to tell you that even if you’re single, get up and out and show yourself some love! If you’re lucky enough to have someone pining for you this year then follow these simple steps and be prepared to have them wrapped around your little finger.

PARISSA STRIP FREE HOT WAX: FACE, BROW & BIKINI:

It’s the night before the most romantic day of the year and your eyebrows, bikini line and upper lip are in disarray. A last minute wax is the perfect solution and Parissa Strip Free Hot Wax is your best bet. You won’t need a touch up for another 8 weeks either! Au natural is not an option, so get waxing!

WELEDA EVERON LIP BALM:

For kissable and perfect looking lips, it’s essential to ensure they are properly moisturized before applying any lipstick or gloss. Use Weleda Everon Lip Balm the night before and throughout the day. It will protect your delicate lips from dryness and make sure they’re in their best condition for the main event!

HERBAL ESSENCES “LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP” ANTI-BREAKAGE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER:

To make sure your locks are in fine form and to decrease frizzy fly-aways use Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship shampoo and conditioner the night before your date. Not only does Herbal Essences smell of red raspberry, it has mixed fragrances of red velvet dream cake, chocolate cherry and wild strawberry. On the evening before you style your hair, team the shampoo and conditioner with some “Smooth Lovin’” Anti Frizz Serum to make certain that your hair is silky smooth the entire day and night.

THALGO LA BEAUTE MARINE SLIM AND SCULPT EXPERT: SLIMMING AND FIRMING CREAM

We can’t press rewind on our lives and visit the gym, so an even better option is Thalgo Slimming and Firming Cream to attack and redefine the contours of those stubborn areas. Simply apply all over the body after showering, focusing on problem areas using an upward motion. Use both morning and night on clean skin for optimal results.

KERSTIN FLORIAN CORRECTING BRIGHTENING EYE CRÈME:

Your eyes are the windows to your soul, well, that’s what we’ve been lead to believe. Either way it doesn’t hurt to make sure your eyes sparkle every day, and most importantly, on Valentine’s Day! Kerstin Florian Correction Brightening Eye Crème is infused with peptides and vitamins A, C and E, which are essential to reduce puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles. For the best results use in the morning and in the evening, it is a crucial aspect of any respectable woman’s beauty regime.

It’s now up to you, fellow romantics, to take our wise words into careful consideration. Get prepping and pampering, soon we will send you some more vital information to help you on the big day! Don’t worry we won’t keep you waiting too long.

Welcome to another HOLLA AT HANNAH X SAM SESSIONS EVENT!

With a 3 day weekend ahead, I’m sure everyone in Australia can’t wait to celebrate our amazing nation in style.

It looks like we’re in for all sorts of weather across the country tomorrow, so no matter where you are or what you are doing, we’d love to give you some ideas about what to wear, and the perfect makeup to take you from beach to BBQ to the bar.

Look one is ideal for keeping cool on sunny Saturday (fingers crossed). Trying hard to avoid a full outfit of bright green and gold patriotic mania, this is the more subtle approach. While the skirt is obviously a nod to the flag, the subtle green wallet, cute trilby hat and laid-back style has ‘Australian’ written aaaaall over it.

For another great outfit, check out look 2. Still super comfortable and appropriate for any activity, this combination of cotton shirt and silk pants will be one you re-visit again and again. Don’t think the theme has been forgotten however, as the understated hints of green and gold in the accessories add some needed pops of colour to this neutral summery look.

N.B. All the clothes and accessories are from either Elk or Madame Hall (Australian brands OF COURSE!) which can be found at www.elkaccessories.com.au and www.madamehall.com

For a makeup look that goes with any outfit option nothing says “Aussie Beauty” more than beautifully bronzed skin with a lick of mascara.

Start with a primer, this will keep your makeup looking beautiful for longer. We love Covergirl’s Simply Ageless Serum Primer. Next your base, you could keep it light and use a tinted moisturiser like theBalm’s Balm Shelter, or something with a bit more coverage like Max Factor’s latest Facefinity Foundation. The level of coverage you choose all comes down to personal preference.

To keep that base in place all day and night a setting powder is going to be your best friend, use a fluffy brush to blend it all over your face, this will also help blend away any fine lines in your base. Try Max Factor’s Lasting Perfection Loose Powder. If you’re going for a look that has a bit more glow skip the setting powder, if you want the staying power AND the glow then add some highlighter after you’ve set your foundation with powder- theBalm’s Mary Lou-Manizer is perfect.

Now for the bronzer! Apply it using the 3B method. Take the bronzer across the temple, over the cheekbone and then back down along the jaw. Effectively this should look like you are dusting a ‘3’ on the right side of your face and a ‘B’ on the left. Try Covergirl’s Cheekers Bronzer, for a matte option or theBalm’s Betty Lou – Manizer, for a bronzer with a healthy dose of shimmer.

Keep the mascara clean and black. A bright lippy is an easy way to transform this look from day to night, try Covergirl’s Lip Perfection Lipstick in Spellbound.

For a bit of fun why not try a green and gold mani? This Australia day I’m rocking Essie’s ‘Pretty Edgy’ with Miss Frou Frou ‘Gold Digger’, tips and a gold accent nail.

Enjoy the long weekend people!

Sam and Hannah xx

Hello everyone!

My name is Julie and I’m a French expat who’s been lucky to be part of the lovely Saunders & Co team for a little while now.
Upon graduating two years ago (with a business and management diploma) I wanted to travel and learn another language before settling in my home town. I was hoping to experience something completely new, something different from the life I lead in Lyon.

For those who never heard about Lyon, it’s the second biggest city in France, and also the French capital of Gastronomy, just next to Geneva, Switzerland. It was great city to live in, full of beautiful architecture…..and obviously, the food is amazing!

I do miss it… But I don’t miss being land-locked and far away from the sea, which was a 5 hour drive South.

Lyon has a small town feel with everyone knowing each other and very few places to go out if you are young.

Many have a very traditional mindset and with it, small town thinking. Social freedom can be limited and a lot of judgement aimed at others with large focus on evaluating others based on their looks, friendship group and social class. To a foreigner visiting Lyon on holidays, this wouldn’t be noticeable. But in a daily life, it became a big deal as it used to influence every single interaction between people from the same circle.

That said, I remember being quite sad to leave the city and my friends behind.

On the other hand, I was full of excitement once I had settled on my decision to travel to Australia.

For most French people, Australia is a wild and fascinating territory to explore, a whole new world…a big adventure. A land full of kangaroos, deserts, surfers and wild beaches and lots of deadly snakes and spiders!

In my excitement it was easy to get distracted, to lose sight of the challenges I would face upon relocating Down Under. I gave little thought to learning a new language, a new culture, new rules, new friends and finding a job.

Before leaving France, some ‘Frenchies’ who just came back from their Aussie experience tried to warn me about how uncouth Australia was.

Did I know I would never be able to do proper shopping? That I would only be drinking beer when I went out and essentially forget about sophistication altogether? Apparently I’d quickly regret my decision to travel to Australia and want to go home.

Now… I CANNOT DISAGREE WITH THEM ANY MORE!

I arrived in Australia with my little sister two years ago and we spent a year together, totally amazed by our new surroundings. I really wondered where those French girls who gave me advice had landed a few years ago…

I know Australia is big, but if you come ‘Down Under’ Sydney is the place to go.

Like so many big cities it is dynamic, drawing people in as a place of great events and a melting point for so many new trends. I love the great shops and Australian designers I have discovered and still struggle to understand how they ever developed such a ghastly opinion of this great country!

Another great contrast is the nightlife of Sydney and the huge range of cocktails and chic wine bars. I have managed to skip the beer and discover some delicious cocktails.. although I often miss the Get27-soda from France, it was a favourite!

My knowledge of cocktails and English came all at once after taking a bartending job in Sydney when I arrived. I couldn’t speak English fluently and I struggled so much with all the different drinks I was asked to serve! It was a great experience and learning how to make cocktails is a very social skill to have!

Anyway, I could go on with all of the differences I have discovered but I’ll save it for another post.

Until next time,

Julie xx

WHAT NOT TO DO – for men.

A special blog post today friends! Hannah and I have decided to collaborate over the next two weeks and present you with the top five fashion and beauty faux pas for both men and women. We’ve decided the boys can go first because they don’t get enough love on our blog. Sorry guys, we DO love you, promise.

So to rectify here it is: the top five beauty and fashion faux pas for men.

1. Socks and sandals. This has got to be one of the most infamous fashion mishaps of all time. But no list regarding sins of fashion could be completed without it. The items separately – yes. But under no circumstance should the two be combined! I mean, have you ever seen a man wear this combo and look sexy? I think not.

2. Obnoxious novelty T-shirts. This is seriously just the WORST look. This might be the fastest way of letting everyone in the room know what a lemon you are! If the aim of these T-shirts is to display that you are witty and hilarious – congratulations, you have done the exact opposite!

3. Super deep scoop t-shirts / the deep V-neck. This trend seems to mostly affect the more ego centred. I get that you have just been at the gym bench pressing your own weight to get those pecks, but that is not a reason to be getting them out. No one wants to see your man cleavage.

4. Too much jewellery. I personally don’t hate a bit of man jewellery, but we’ve all seen when it get excessive – not a good look. Particularly offensive items include the pinky ring, and chains nestled in too much chest hair. Also, probably not more than one necklace is ever needed (unless you are Mr T…Or Johnny Depp.)

5. Jorts. Jeans +shorts. Sometimes known as manpri’s. You know the ones I’m talking about, those super baggy long denim shorts that sit somewhere between below the knee and the ankle. Let’s take a look at the far right photo for an example. What is even going on there? Are those even shorts, or some super baggy yet cropped jeans. Whatever the answer, I think we can all agree that it is wrong!

Now for the beauty portion – here are top five beauty (manscape, grooming, whatever you want to call it) faux pas committed by MEN:

1. Guyliner – Stupid. Pointless even? You are not a pirate, unless you are a pirate, eyeliner should be left to the ladies or the drag queens. This trend gained a bit of momentum in the early to mid 2000’s with the widespread popularity of ‘emo’ bands. Please let it die now.

2. Dirty fingernails. I feel like this is more so just bad manners? It is the ultimate reflection of poor hygiene. Men, when your fingers are dirty I get physically repulsed by your touch and will watch anything you put your hands on hoping that they can in no way gain access to anything in my surroundings.

3. Novelty facial hair. The rest of us are not in on this private joke you are having with yourself. You look foolish to be completely honest with you. Mutton chops? NO. Soul patch? No. Handlebar moustache? That’s a big NO. Obviously Movember is a clear exception so I hope you all got it out of your system!

4. Over gelled hair. Honestly, I appreciate the effort BUT just dial it down a notch. You hair looks crunchy and hard yet somehow always wet. These are not ways you want your hair to be described. Please keep in mind that a little bit of gel goes a lonnng way. A moulding wax or clay is also an excellent alternative.

5. Too much cologne. Again, you were on the right track but a little goes a long way! If I can smell your cologne when you walk into a room it’s too much. Fragrance should be subtle. An extension of you. It shouldn’t over power you.

So there it is boys – take note! Please let us know if you take exception to one of these suggestions- we’d be very interested in hearing your argument.

Until next week, LADIES WATCH OUT!!!

The past week was CRAZY here at Saunders & Co! Not that I’m complaining – this week we were lucky enough to work on what can only be described as a once in a lifetime experience, meeting and working with a pioneer of fashion- the legendary Mr. Roberto Cavalli on his exclusive capsule collection for Target Australia.

Our team hosted two very big, VERY exciting events over consecutive days of Mr. Cavalli’s visit to Sydney, and I am here to give you all the behind –the- scenes scoop. So what is he like you ask? Exactly, exactly as you would expect! He has that charming, play it up for the cameras Italian bravado of a man many years younger than his passport states.

If you haven’t seen the collection yet, it’s classic, textbook Cavalli – but isn’t that everything you want from an affordable designer range?! Lots of animal prints, lots of colour, sexy silhouettes, gold accents, floaty fabrics, snake motifs- the collection has it all! Pieces perfect for holidaying on a mega yacht off the coast of Capri right? (A girl can dream!)

A selection of looks from the Roberto Cavalli for Target collection

So let’s start at the beginning, Tuesday morning at the press conference. Saunders staff arrived at the Park Hyatt in The Rocks at 7, along with the stylist, models, hair and makeup teams ready to beautify the space and the girls – who rocked gorgeous bronzed makeup with flowing beachy locks.

The press conference officially began at 10am when Cavalli walked out into the guest house flanked by eight models, and sat between Managing Director of Target Australia, Dene Rogers and International Communication Director of Roberto Cavalli Massimo Veneziano. The crème de la crème of Sydney’s media sat in the audience and asked the dynamo questions, to which most of the answers revolved about his love of fashion and his loooooove of beauty! A photo op in front of the Opera House followed the press conference, and this is where Cavalli REALLY played up for the camera’s, and honestly the man CAN pose!

Press conference at the Park Hyatt Sydney

Flash forward to Wednesday morning, and hordes of eager fans and shoppers lined up outside the Bondi Junction Target store, waiting to meet the designer himself and shop the collection. At 9am as Mr Cavalli cut the ribbon, fans cheered and people flooded into the store, frantically grabbing clothes in their size. By 10am the shelves had been restocked 4 times and many items were close to selling out (in Target stores and online).

Although it had been an incredibly busy 2 days, the events were a huge success, Roberto Cavalli’s charming demeanour, exotic clothes, larger than life style and personality proved to be a perfect combination, resulting in a veeery memorable couple of days!

Holla at Hannah – Summer hair care

When summer rolls around the last thing at the bottom of my beauty to do list is anything to do with my hair.

The only thing I think about is a good hair brush and a straightener.

I let my hair air dry and straighten it when I can be bothered and that’s about it really. Which is BAD really bad. Because summer is probably when your hair needs the most love.

UV damage can affect both the surface and the core structure of the hair. Irreversibly. You’re best option here is a spray with UV protection in it. evo makes a GREAT leave in conditioner that contains UVA/UVB protection and helps inject a bit of moisture into hair that has been dried out by too much sun, saltwater or chlorine. evo day of grace leave -in conditioner $25.95.

A clarifying shampoo is also going to be a saviour! During summer you can get a build up of all sorts, chemical, product and of course any sunburn that starts to flake. Head and Shoulders is an excellent budget friendly option. I’m mad for the apple fresh scent $5.99.

A salt spray is also going to be the styling tool to keep on hand. An effortless way to give you a relaxed beachy style without having to leave the house. Or even just to add texture to too clean hair. evo salty dog is a cult classic at $26.95.

Or, if you were blessed with the type of head that looks beautiful in a hat you could just try that. I unfortunately was not.

See you in two! Hannah x

I have recently become a huge sandal fan. Not that I didn’t have the odd pair throughout my life , but for the most part I was a plastic thong, Havianas freak. I would wear them EVERYWHERE! Not that I don’t still love them, but what with a job and what- not now, it probably wouldn’t be kosher if I rocked up in flip flops every day.

Since I am on my feet a lot at work, sandals have become a god send! Not only are they super comfortable, but since opening up my eyes to the sandal world in general – there are SO many excellent ones out there. Taking inspiration from catwalks of the world this recent ready to wear season, there is one clear footwear trend that stands above all others and can be easily emulated on a day to day basis –GLADIATOR SANDALS!

I swear almost every spring / summer there is some kind of variation on this classic style and this season was certainly no exception. Basically, these babies don’t go out of trend (I mean, they have been around since ancient times!). Alexander Wang, Edun, Versace, Mario Schwab, Isabel Marant, Gucci, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Victoria Beckham, Roberto Cavalli AND Altazurra all put their own twist on the gladiator in the recent SS13 RTW shows – granted some of them are not very approachable (Altuzarra im looking at you), but you get the idea. Whether it’s the colour, the height or the embellishment all these shoes are seriously amazing! Mine would probably be a bit shorter and a bit flatter, but then again I’m not walking the catwalks of Paris. So here’s a look at the gladiator mania that was the recent SS13 ready to wear season, and bear with me, because there are a LOT!

Holla at Hannah – Nailing it

Confession time: When I was at university and had more time on my hands (get it??) than I do now I was OBSESSIVE about nail art. I looked at what people like Wah Nails, Sophy Robson and Robin Moses were doing and I painstakingly tried to recreate them. Photographic proof:

Bear in mind, this was when I had acrylics. Acrylics hold polish much better and you don’t have to worry as much about splitting, breaking, peeling nails. I had them for a good year and a half until I decided that actually, they looked a bit tacky and I didn’t have the time anymore to be getting infill’s or fresh sets every few weeks.

So then you take the acrylics off and you are left to suffer with the aftermath, brittle and weak nails that break, split and peel at every and any opportunity. Almost to the point where you can’t even be bothered painting them because you know they will just be ruined by the end of the day.

Which leads me nicely to nail upkeep! So often neglected but so necessary.

I’m about to hit you with my top tips for nail health:

Always remember the mantra: Jewels not tools! Your nails are super fragile, stop using them to open cans, peel tape of things, untie knots, scrape, pick etc. They will break.

File your nails properly, even though it takes a lot more time and effort. I’ll hazard a guess that you are not filing your nails properly. You should be filing them one way only, not in a back and forth motion. Back and forth motions only weaken the nail and encourage splitting. Also, if possible you should be using a crystal nail file, much nicer to the nail.

Hand cream and cuticle oil. Use them both. I always see people apply hand cream on their palms. LOL. Why? It’s the back of your hands that are exposed to sun and most of the elements. It’s the back of your hands that show their age first. Not your palms. By all means put a bit on the palm but please focus on the backs of your hands.

Don’t do what I do! Take your nail polish off properly. With nail polish remover. When you pick or peel at your nail polish you are most likely also peeling off a layer or two of your actual nail.

If you bite your nails or cuticles stop now. You know why. Also: gross.

Sam’s back next week and we also might have a mid week blog surprise!

See you in two,

Hannah xx

For those of you who don’t know who Miroslava Duma is, this post will be an education. She. Is. EPIC.

Known by her friends as Mira, this pint-sized fashionista has become a permanent fixture on the international style scene, known for her fearless fashion choices and ability to pull anything off. She is one quarter of the aptly named “Russian Fash Pack” or “Russian Fashion Mafia” which also includes designers Ulyana Sergeenko, Vika Gazinskaya and model Elena Perminova- and believe me, the troupe is hard to miss!

The "Russian Fash Pack". From left (first photo) Vika, Miroslava, Ulyana, Elena.

In 25 short years this dynamo has been an editor at Harpers Bazaar Russia, founded Buro 24/7, a news website dedicated to fashion and style, become a freelance writer for a number of Russian fashion mags, become a fashion show fixture, achieved serious style blog DOMINATION (Tommy Ton and co basically stalk her), aaaand found time to get married and have a child- when she was 23 may I add! SHEESH!

If I was asked to pin down her style I just couldn’t, its always different styles, textures and silhouettes. I guess if I were to give it a go I’d say quirky slash eclectic slash fun slash polished slash funky slash classy slash I don’t even know anymore. What is clear though, is that she loves fashion, and has a lot of fun with it.

There are a lot of things to be learned from her style – granted, any old regular Joe doesn’t have access to endless designer and couture options, but ill try.

Firstly, chunky statement necklaces. They have seriously become her trademark and she wears them all the time. No matter the look she is going for, it seems a big necklace can and will be included.

We get ours from www.elkaccessories.com.au

Secondly- or maybe this should have been first- PRINTS! Prints prints prints prints prints. Matching, clashing, subtle, bold. Seriously, if there is a style of print in existence she has probably rocked it. Pair this with her fearlessness with colour and you have the making of some pretty exciting outfits.

Treat yourself to some stunning prints at www.madamehall.com

The final thing that can be learned from is tailoring. It would be foolish to assume that petite 5 foot 2 girl can fit into model samples, or doesn’t have to alter her clothes. And if you look at enough of her outfits, you realise how amazingly well her clothes fit. So I would say the tip of the day is fine a tailor and become their best friend!

Holla at Hannah – The Bold Lip

When the various fashion weeks roll around everyone waits with bated breath to see the latest trends and find out what their favourite designers have been dreaming up. Not me. I’m always more concerned with the makeup. What was the nail polish colour at Chanel? Who was behind the glorious lashes at Gucci? And this season it seemed all about the Bold Lip, which is great for me as I love a bit of lip. Mostly because it’s a super easy way to change your look and make a statement.
My top three lip looks:

I loved the red lip at Barbara Bui (Paris S/S 13). I read somewhere online that it was called a ‘lived in’ red. I love that. I love the whole concept of meant-to-be-imperfect. Someone could say to you “Oh your lipsticks looking a bit rough” (if you are friends with jerks) and you can just be like “No, it’s lived in. It’s a trend straight from Paris Fashion Week”, as you casually flip your hair off your shoulder.

The Hot pink at Giles (London S/S 13) was smoking. I think sometimes this particular shade of pink can come off a bit, well, cheap. BUT, Giles did it so well! Everything else was bare and minimal, just beautiful skin and a smoking hot pink lip. Hats off!

Coming in at numbero uno was most certainly Missoni (Milan S/S 13)! That colour! The perfect mix of red, orange and pink with the most amazing matte finish. It ticked all the right boxes for me.

And my top three bold lip tips:
1. Moisturise those lips. You want your lips to be smooth BEFORE you add colour. There no point adding a lip balm right before you apply your lipstick, you need to do it at least an hour before to really let your lips soak in the moisture. And if you suffer from dry, cracked lips, a lip scrub probably wouldn’t go astray either.
2. I feel like lip pencils get a bad rap. They are amazing, and if you are really serious about your bold lips then they are essential. I know people think the whole lip pencil thing is dated but honestly, any lip colour will look a million times neater with a lip liner.
3. Confidence. I will wear a bold lip anywhere and so many people will say “I wish I could wear that colour!” Why can’t you? You don’t have lips? You can wear any colour you want. ANY. You just need to find a tone that works for you. And even if you don’t think you can find the right tone it doesn’t REALLY matter. You just have to put it on and work it and keep in mind that it’s just lipstick and you can always wash it off.

Let us know where you stand on the Bold Lip trend!

Sam’s back next week with a new Sam Sessions – hope you enjoy!

As Hannah mentioned before my name is Sam, here with my very first “Sam Sessions”, providing you with a fortnightly dose of fashion news, trends and gossip – so lets begin.

If there is one trend I hope never goes out of style it is stripes. Shirts, dresses, pants, jackets – if its striped, I’m guaranteed to love it. So you can imagine my joy whilst trawling through fashion month photos when I see them everywhere! Whether it’s a classic sailor stripe, a quirky high fashion interpretation or a cut-out (a la Mr Alexander Wang) “stripe”, it is a style that seems well and truly here to stay.

Wang style "stripes" at New York Fashion Week

Marc Jacobs for example took it to the next level! There were literally 6 pieces in the whole collection that weren’t part of the stripe-stravoganza that was his S13 runway show. Items ranged from the super-wearable to completely over the top, drawing on a range of inspiration from candy stripe to prison stripes.

Stripes galore at Marc Jacobs

Flash forward a few weeks and travel across the Atlantic and we see both Valentino and L’Wren Scott using the ubiquitous stripe also. The former employing them as part of his Italian-chic aesthetic, the latter using it eeeeeeverywhere in a bold, smack you in the face kind of way. Whatever the application, what can be clearly understood is the versatility of the humble stripe.

Subtle feminine stripes at Valentino

The best thing about this look is how incredibly wearable it is on a day to day basis. Take a leaf out of Alarna’s book (below) and throw on a casual blazer with some basic black to make the item shine. Or for a bolder look, try this Madame Hall dress –pair with some cute sandals and some sunnies for an effortless comfortable summertime look that is sure to impress.

Ezibuy blazer, Madame Hall dress

It’s getting warmer and every time I leave work it seems lighter and lighter! This means two things:

You will be getting your limbs out

Said limbs will be ultra pale due to the hibernation they endured during winter

Every winter I always think “It never gets this cold!” and really, it doesn’t get THAT cold in Sydney but having a communal whinge helps people bond I guess. But back to the point: Fake Tan.

I know this induces images of this:

But we are going for something more like this:

Natural. Healthy. Glowing. I know they say “There’s nothing healthy about a tan” but this is fake which means it’s A-OK. Better than the real thing even.

To avoid the orange here are some handy tips:

Exfoliate!! Pre tan you should always exfoliate from top to toe, slough away the dead skin cells and start fresh. Applying tan to uneven skin only equals uneven results.

Oversaturation is the killer of the knees, elbows and heels when it comes to fake tan. These areas of your body are usually dry so they soak up any tan you give them. For best results a bit of body lotion on these areas an hour or so before tan application will be your saviour.

Moisturising all over a few hours before you tan is also a good idea, especially if you do have dry skin. BUT PLEASE use a water based moisturiser, oil based moisturisers tend to sit on the skin and create a barrier that prevents the tan from absorbing properly.

Gloves or a tanning mitt! This one is a no brainer.

Our top picks this summer?

Trilogy Instant Bronzing Gel $27.95

Kerstin Florian Sunless Tan $85

Thalgo Self Tanning Cream for Face & Body $39

And of course if you’re looking for a natural but buildable matte bronzer Bahama Mama from theBalm fits the bill and won’t break the bank at $27.95.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT TIME:

Unfortunately, my beloved HR is no longer with us at Saunders BUT it’s not all gloom and doom because we now have the MARVELOUS Samantha who will be bringing you all the fashion goods from now on. Tune in next week for her very first “Sam Sessions” and I’ll be back in two weeks with a new Holla at Hannah.

Worldwide Olympic Partner Procter & Gamble congratulates Emily Seebohm for winning a silver medal on the 5th day of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Pantene ambassador, who has now won two medals, is a member of the Australian swim team, and before taking out the silver medal set an Olympic record of 58.23sec in her heat on Sunday. Yesterday evening, Seebohm stopped the clock at 58.68sec in the 100m backstroke final.

As the Proud Sponsor of Mums, P&G also extended congratulations to Karen Seebohm. P&G recognises that no athlete makes it to the Olympics Games alone. And athletes’ mums are nearly always a key part of their Olympic journeys.

As P&G is in the business of helping mums, it is using its voice at the Olympic Games to say “thank you” to mums for all they do to help their kids achieve their dreams. Its Thank You Mum campaign is the largest scale initiative in the company’s 175-year history.

Maile Carnegie for P&G, said, “This is an extraordinary accomplishment, and on behalf of P&G, I am delighted for Emily Seebohm, Karen Seebohm and family.”

Emily Seebohm said, “I’m really happy with what I’ve achieved and it will spur me on for gold next time. I saw my mum in the crowd after my medal ceremony and I took the opportunity to just give her a hug. It was great to have her there and have her support.”

Of her daughter’s performance, Karen said: “She did a great job, she came away with a silver medal and set a new Olympic record. I’m so proud of her.”

The Thank You Mum campaign has been brought to life through a variety of media channels and in-store with a worldwide retailer program that began in April and will run through August. Olympic Games-themed P&G branded products will be featured in millions of stores across the globe. As a part of the P&G Thank You Mum promotion, P&G has committed to raise $5 million to support local youth sports programs in many countries, through a portion of sales and donations from the company’s leadership brands including Pampers®, Tide®, Gillette® and Pantene®.

I’m back from Japan for your latest hit of beauty.

I am so excited to share all the crazy beauty related things I saw in Japan!

First things first, Japanese girls are obsesssssed with nail art! They go nuts for it. Long, pointed acrylics that have so many stones and other decorations that they literally look like they weigh five kilos per nail. Even the girls that don’t have acrylics still manage to decorate their nails. Check out the picture of the nails I got! Warning: They’re a bit mental.

Secondly: Eyelashes! Fake eyelashes and eyelash growth serum is EVERYWHERE. I mean, Shu Uemura had to get his inspiration somewhere right? Some of the girls even wear multiple pairs of fake lashes and when I say multiple I mean four or five. Again, seems really heavy. I was even suckered into buying a false lash applicator under the false pretence that I might start wearing fake lashes everyday and that it would “practically pay for itself”.

The other thing that was really popular in Japan I call: wacky things that I’m not sure really work. They include: F Cup Cookies, cookies that are supposed to make your breasts grow and Shiseido: The Collagen, a collagen drink that they sell EVERYWHERE, they even have BB drinks, a relation of BB creams I think.

Lastly, coloured contacts that make your eyes look huge. They are worn en masse. Take a look at the picture I took below.

This was only about ¼ of what was on offer at the one store. There is a huge Dolly trend in Japan, as in girls dressing like Doll’s, big eyes, big lashes, big curly hair and pretty dresses. Before I went to Japan I thought this was bizarre:

How To Look Like A Doll by Venus Palermo

Now I think it is normal and totally Kawaii! Which is also how I feel about the new phone case that I got from Harajuku (featuring the totally demure and work appropriate nails I did myself at the airport)

Till next time..HP xx

Have you heard about the newest brand on board here at Saunders & Co?

Aromatherapy Associates are a beautiful Aromatherapy brand from the United Kingdom specialising in blended oils for the body, bath, and hair. All the treatments aim to soothe and calm the mind, bring the emotions into balance, ease strains, tension and blockages in the body and the skin.

Aside from its signature oils, Aromatherapy Associates also has a full skin care range and luxe candles for the home. Believing that using natural ingredients is vital to the integrity of the end product, Aromatherapy Associates supports fair trade plus organic and traditional agriculture.

A core philosophy is that plants grown without chemicals have more benefits and fewer side effects for the skin and body. Hear, hear. Celebrity fans in the UK including the gorgeous Dannii Minogue and Sienna Miller agree too.

We’ve happily discovered the Bath & Shower Oils also make a great natural alternative to perfumes, a dab of oil on the wrist, temples, behind the ear or inside the elbows create a lingering scent that warms with the body throughout the day

We’re just finishing up our EziBuy Spring showings here at the office and all I’ve been seeing, hearing, and thinking about is the latest, greatest trend – The Statement Pant. Animal print chinos, slouch-print silk pants, floral and pop colour denim…the list is endless. I’ve got to have more! I’ve been lusting over so many great items from the EziBuy SS12/13 showings – but their new pants take the cake.

With everyone from Beyonce and Rihanna, to the fashion girls and boys at every mag in Sydney rocking this one – the printed pant is almost taking over the world! Or at least Instagram…

I’m rocking some grey snakeskin print chinos today with a plum silk shirt and some brogues for a more casual office style statement pant look but you can definitely work the floral denim with a tee and blazer and great heels for a night out The thing you’ve got to remember is that rest of your outfit can be quite basic as you want the printed bottoms to be a feautre you work around.
Don’t be scared – they really aren’t as outlandish as you think. You can TOTALLY pull them off.

These are my faves…

And these are only a few from EziBuy. Check out www.maxshop.com and www.elk.net.au for other fun options too!

So that’s my ‘Holla’, by the next time we meet I want to see you rocking (or at least attempting) a print pant when I return in a fortnight! Until then… xxx

Konichiwa!! I am currently in Japan but here’s a little something I knocked up earlier.

So, a little bit on in-flight beauty. The most important thing is hydration! Drinking plenty of water and smacking your skin with moisture. I literally look like a crazy person on planes because I sit there with my moisturisers squeezed into regulation containers and literally keep applying till my skin won’t absorb anything else.

My five key products?

Definitely a good lip balm – The trilogy everything balm is amazing and multipurpose! You can use it on your lips, cuticles, eyelashes or just wherever you have some dryness.

Eye cream – The Thalgo Revitalising Eye Contour Cream is my pick. Firming and hydrating. Winner.

Face mist – The La Clinica Anti Ageing Rosewater Facial mist is bang on at 100mL exactly, spritz on before applying your moisturiser for an extra dose of hydration.

Intensive Moisturising Treatment – The Kerstin Florian Rescue Cream is BEYOND. Moisturising and promotes collagen and elastin production.

Hand cream – The Olivina Olive hand cream is amazing, it combines hand pressed olive and grape seed oil with a whole bunch of other goodies like chamomile, kelp and aloe vera for a truly nourishing and soothing hand cream experience(I take hand cream very seriously, who wants to have gross dry hands? Not me but thanks for asking).

You could even go the extra mile and chuck on a face mask too. The SK-II Facial Treatment Mask is perfect! Hydrating and easy to use, you’ll just look a bit scary to all the other passengers but you will be able to hold your head up high when they step off the flight with flaking skin and you look like Miranda Kerr (radiant).

Some makeup wipes wouldn’t go astray either; the Olay ones are great value for money. And if you are the type, some makeup for touch ups before you land. Otherwise, make like a celeb and just pack a pair of sunnies to hide your makeup free face when you land.

And if it’s all too hard a lot of brands do travel packs that basically have you covered for an entire flight. Trilogy +Thalgo each make one.

Stayed tuned in two weeks time for a Holla at Hannah covering all the weird and wonderful beauty buys in Japan.

HP x

MAXshop.com hosted a Spring/ Summer launch fiesta at the Gracelands Bar at The Winery in Surry Hills this week. This perfectly eclectic backdrop was the ideal setting to show off the new clothes to the media, as well as providing a well needed mid- week escape!

Collection wise, the next 3 offerings of clothes and accessories from MAXshop.com are all completely different – so here is a one sentence download on each of them. Firstly, In the Garden, is an exciting assortment of bold colours and bright florals, displayed in front of a floor to ceiling live plant wall! I mean, it doesn’t get much more perfect than that!
The second collection Hacienda has a Spanish – Latin vibe, full of red, black and rose motifs – perfect for bringing out your inner senorita. Finally, To Catch a Thief is a range of clothes inspired by the classic 50’s movie of the same name. Channel a modern day Grace Kelly in this demure selection of pastels and lace for a vintage feel.

This fresh direction for the brand is a result of hiring a new Creative Director, Tracy Heaven, who acted as a main point of contact during the media showings throughout the day. Later in the evening fashion bloggers including Margaret Zhang, from Shine By Three, Jessie Bush from We The People and Darren Luk from Boy Moments, were invited into the colourful fiesta where chatter of the collection’s silk shirts ruled. The pastel bomber jackets and the floral suits were also a big hit amongst the crowd for the evening.

Guests were greeted with a Giggly Rose cocktail, perfectly suited to the theme – seriously sooo delicious we may have had more than one! To compliment the drinks were an array of canapés including king prawn rice paper rolls, salmon tartare cornettos, and the tastiest asparagus and green pea truffled risotto ever!

All in all, the event was a huge success, and with so many great pieces in this collection, we can’t wait for the weather to heat up!

I’m back! And I’ve been inspired…
Gary Saunders has recently returned from a trip overseas where he seems to have picked up some gems, and came into the office sporting THESE…..

Obviously these fab shoes did not go unnoticed. With silver studs at the ankle and orange laces (because, well, why not!) – who wouldn’t want a pair?

Creating a relaxed luxe look, Gary paired the shoes with slouchy Alexander Wang pants a matching cornflower blue tee, and a black v-neck cardi.
His approach to ‘a pop colour’ is exactly what you’re after when wanting to implement such a trend into your everyday wardrobe.

From Warhol, to Gucci, the ‘POP of colour’ trend took the world in a rainbow paddle pop storm. Whether it’s a great silk shirt, a comfy cotton jean or blue shoes. It’s been here for a solid 12 months and this trend seems to be here for the long haul.
My pick’s of the week are from www.MAxshop.com’s latest collection – Hacienda – online now.
